NPORS National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS)
NPORS was established in 1992 and is one of the leading Awarding Bodies for work-based training in the UK. NPORS believes that everyone who operates machinery should be qualified and competent to do so, keeping not only themselves safe but others too. Through the high standards provided by their registered training providers who are professionally qualified and regularly monitored to do so, this regulated training is provided throughout Great Britain for hundreds of variations of training courses.
NPORS offers a wide range of categories for most machines offering an alternative UK accredited card scheme. The NPORS training and testing can only be offered by NPORS approved training providers. Training duration varies depending on whether the operator is a novice operator or experienced operator. Training and testing under this scheme can be provided at All Plant Training Centre or On-site.
The test includes a written theory and a separate practical test. Both elements must be passed to gain a card. Cards are valid for 2, 3 or 5 years. NPORS offers a traditional card scheme and the CSCS NPORS card scheme. The latter requires that an NVQ be obtained after two years to renew. See the NPORS website for more details.
NPORS vs CPCS Both NOCN (CPCS) and NPORS operate in a similar way providing membership for their operators in order to provide competence for operating Plant machinery.
